Necromanteion & Acheron River Excursion

This excursion offers not only the chance to enjoy the breathtaking local nature, but also to explore the myths and legends surrounding the region.
First Stop: The Necromanteion
Visit the archaeological site of the Necromanteion, the ancient Oracle of the Dead, based on the belief that the souls of the dead could predict the future.
The visit is optional. Entry fee: €10 for adults, €5 for children.
Learn about the rituals and elaborate preparations performed by priests before each “encounter” with the spirits of the underworld.
Next: The Acheron River in Glyki
We continue to the village of Glyki, home to the Acheron River, often identified with the mythical River Styx.
Our guide will lead you on a refreshing walk through the gorge and into the crystal-clear waters of the river. According to legend, this is where Achilles gained his immortality.
For those who prefer not to walk in the river, there are plenty of relaxing alternatives along the banks — from simply enjoying the landscape to paddling in the shallow waters.
An optional meal (not included in the price) can be enjoyed at a traditional riverside taverna.
