Beaches of Parga

Parga justifiably attracts thousands of visitors each summer, not only for its natural beauty but also for its stunning beaches. The warm, calm waters make it ideal for swimming, while the organised facilities and variety of water sports (jet skiing, windsurfing, parasailing, scuba diving, and more) ensure fun and adventure for all. Many of these beaches are among the finest along the Ionian coast.

Valtos Beach

The largest beach in Parga, Valtos stretches nearly 3 km and lies just beneath the Venetian Castle. With its clean, calm waters, mix of sand and pebbles, and surrounding hills, Valtos is perfect for families and water sport enthusiasts alike. It’s well-organised, with numerous tavernas, mini markets, hotels, and rooms for rent nearby.

Kryoneri Beach

This is the main beach of Parga, located right in town, only a few steps from the harbour. Just opposite lies the islet of Panagia, which visitors can reach by swimming or pedal boat. The beach is small, lively, and a favourite among locals and tourists alike.

Don’t miss:

  • A swim or boat ride to Panagia Islet to visit the small churches and hidden coves.

Piso Kryoneri Beach

A quiet, hidden gem behind the hill of Agios Athanasios, Piso Kryoneri offers a more peaceful experience, surrounded by rocky outcrops and nature.

Worth seeing:

  • The Panagia Islet and the surrounding mini beaches
  • Dramatic rock formations like Skordas and Kremmydas

Lichnos Beach

Located 4 km from Parga, Lichnos is one of the most scenic and popular sandy beaches in the region. Surrounded by olive groves and mountains, it offers crystal-clear waters and all the major water sports: parasailing, diving, fishing, jet skiing, windsurfing, and more.

Must-see:

  • The Cave of Aphrodite, where legend says the goddess bathed.

Sarakiniko Beach

About 10 km from Parga, Sarakiniko is a lush green paradise. Take the road through the villages of Anthousa and Agia. The beach is well-developed with tavernas, accommodations, and options for water sports like sea biking, water skiing, and windsurfing.

Ai Giannakis Beach

A quiet 1 km long bay, located before the village of Agia Kyriaki, Ai Giannakis is ideal for a peaceful swim. It has clear, calm waters and a blend of sand and pebbles, but minimal facilities — bring your own essentials.

Agios Sostis Beach

Named after the small chapel built between two dramatic cliffs, Agios Sostis is a secluded cove about 2.5 km from Anthousa. The road is rough but accessible by car. The beach offers tranquillity, clean waters, and an untouched atmosphere — but no services, so bring everything you need.

Must-see:

  • The Chapel of Agios Sostis, partially built into the rock, just before the beach.

Parga’s beaches offer something for everyone — from lively, organised spots with water sports to quiet, natural escapes for relaxation and exploration.
